Simola Wa Ethnic Village is an
over‑500‑year‑old settlement in Zhong‑
zhai, Sanjia Village, Qingshui Town,
Tengchong, Yunnan.
“Simola” translates to “land of hap‑
piness” in the Wa language. True to its
name, the village is distinguished by its
living Wa culture—traditional architec‑
ture, dress, music, dance, and seasonal
festivals are all preserved here. In recent
years, Simola has drawn on both its
natural setting and its cultural heritage
to develop rural tourism. As a result,
the local ecology is protected, tourism
thrives, and the community prospers.
Rising incomes and a better quality of
life have turned this once‑quiet village
into a must‑visit destination.
