Wild vegetables, flowers
in Kunming markets
昆明春菜鲜花齐上市
Recently in Yunnan province, wet markets are filled with
varieties of spring vegetables that you can hardly name
them all. Wuliduo market in Guandu district of Kunming
city, capital of Yunnan, is crowded with early-bird shoppers
in the morning, as vegetables and flowers there are of great
price.
Dandy flowers from Dali city, broom flowers, and the
crab-apple flowers are marketed. The sophora flowers, and
morchella, the king of mushrooms, are served, too.
“Lately, the prices of spring vegetables have dropped
quite a bit, and these days are the perfect time to enjoy
them. Vegetables like Chinese toon, crab-apple flowers, and
sophora flowers will gradually disappear in a few weeks,”
said Liu Hui selling various wild edible vegetables at
Wuliduo. On his stall, there are more than 20 varieties of
vegetables.
“The prices of spring vegetables this year are similar to
previous years, and with the continuous increase in supply,
the prices have generally dropped. They are then getting
more popular among the residents,” said Li Xuanfeng, the
person in charge of Wuliduo.
“However, the availability of them is very limited, and
they usually go off the market around Qingming Festival.
Residents want to enjoy them need to seize the time.” (Yun-
