Museums serve as “cultural gene banks,” preserving regional civilizations. International Museum Day,
observed on May 18, this year focuses on the theme “The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Com-
munities.”
It is through their diversity that civilizations interact, learn from one another, and collectively advance. As
