Museums serve as “cultural gene banks,” preserving regional civilizations. International Museum Day,
observed on May 18, this year focuses on the theme “The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Com-
                              munities.”
It is through their diversity that civilizations interact, learn from one another, and collectively advance. As
the river of time flows ceaselessly onward and urban landscapes intertwine with light and shadow, muse-
ums stand as silent beacons. They gaze upon the past, envision the future, bridge global connections, and
safeguard humanity’s legacy. Within their hallowed halls, cultural treasures tell the story of integrated and
developing civilizations, embodying a profound sense of openness and inclusion. Join us in this issue as
we journey through Yunnan’s distinctive museums for a profound dialogue with civilizations.
